Turn global chat off

Season 14 rebuilt global chat. It is on by default. The patch page says to send with /global or /gc, and to turn it off with /toggle GlobalChat. A Reddit thread from the same month says /toggle gc worked for the person who asked. Both strings are below. The official one is the long form.

The official Season 14 patch supports the long-form toggle command. A request for separate hardcore and softcore channels does not prove that the panel cannot move. No verified panel-moving steps were found. Reddit links returned HTTP 403 on 28 October 2026; the short-form report remains a historical single-thread claim.

The fix

Type this in chat. Then press Enter.

  • Official wording, from the Season 14 patch: /toggle GlobalChat
  • Short form players reported in October 2026: /toggle gc
  • Sending, if you want it on: /global your message, or /gc your message

Rules around the channel

The patch says you can speak if your account existed before the current ladder, or if you have a character above level 30. Trade messages are not allowed. The channel is English-only on that page.

The sources checked do not establish how to move the panel. Historical Reddit reports about channel splits or mute labels were not accessible in this audit and do not establish current UI behavior.

Questions

Can I move global chat?

No supported move procedure was verified in the cited patch. This does not prove movement is impossible; /toggle GlobalChat is the documented way to hide the channel.

Which command is official?

/toggle GlobalChat is the patch text. /toggle gc is the short form a player confirmed. If one fails, try the other, and say which build you are on when you ask for help.
